Why I created Complete Home Co
My Grandmother, Maxine Wells
I’ve always believed that home is more than four walls, it’s where people feel cared for. That belief goes way back to my childhood, when I’d help my grandmother at her bed and breakfast. I remember us making beds together, watching her rise early every morning to cook breakfast for her guests. No matter what she had on, church, Meals on Wheels, or ten guests arriving at once, she showed me that hospitality is about being “on” all the time, and always showing up with love and pride.
From there, it feels like hospitality was in my DNA. My mother was a chef, so I grew up in kitchens, bars, and restaurants. Working in tourism and hospitality was all I ever knew. More recently, I moved into the short-term rental industry, helping build and onboard properties for a management company. That’s where I spotted the biggest gap of all: finding good cleaners.
It didn’t matter whether I was talking to our friendly local competition or the largest STR company in Australia, everyone had the same frustration. Cleaners who didn’t show up. Towels not folded correctly. Floors skipped. Rubbish left in bins. And the most exhausting part? Having to pay people to check up on cleaners who should have got it right in the first place.
This photo was taken yesterday when asked to redo a property after another company had “finished”.
But there was something deeper, too. I saw time and again that many cleaners weren’t treated with the respect they deserved. They were treated as just a “cleaner” and rarely given proper training or support. That never sat right with me.
So Complete Home Co was born.
We created a company that not only trains our team thoroughly, but also supports them as people. We know cleaning isn’t always a long-term career, so we make space for growth, life transitions, and balance. We do coffee catch-ups. We have a bonus program. And we bring the knowledge and professionalism from years in the STR industry into every clean we do.
What makes us different? It’s the small things. Not just wiping down benches, but organising the bow and hair clip box for a busy mum. Not just emptying the fridge, but cleaning out the onion drawer. It’s the thought process of: “How can I make their day a little bit better?”
And we’re just getting started.
A beautiful bed to compliment this stunning property.
